In Memory of David Sears
David Wayne Sears was – and will always be - an amazing man, a hero, a wonderful Dad, the greatest Husband, a devoted grandfather, the most caring son-in-law, and a good friend to many people. He passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 due to complications after having quadruple heart bypass surgery at age 71.
David was the perfect role model. He joined the Fort Worth Police Department on June 1, 1974, where he worked until he retired February 1, 2009. During his 35-year career, he received the highest decoration of honor, the Medal of Valor. This medal is awarded to public safety officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in an attempt to save or protect others from harm. David fundamentally believed in serving and protecting his community, especially women and children.
In lieu of flowers, the family of David Sears is requesting any amount of donation you are able to give to One Safe Place, a non-profit organization that strives to eradicate crime and violence in Tarrant County’s neighborhoods, schools, and homes. With each donation, our hope is to ensure that David’s legacy lives on among the families that he was honored to protect.
